A big thank you to everyone who took part in the second St Clare Hospice 10k Midnight Walk on Saturday 20th June. 1,662 walkers registered to show their support for the Hospice and they have pledged over £140,000 in sponsorship towards the care of people with life-limiting illnesses in West Essex and East Hertfordshire.

 

Whether you were one of the power walkers at the front or strolled round slowly having a chat with friends, it seems that fun was had by all. To see and purchase photos from the event please visit our Photobox site.

Our fastest walker crossed the finish line in a time of 1 hour, 22 minutes and 24 seconds and the last over the finish line collected their well deserved medals after a walk time of 3 hours and 11 minutes.

 

We are delighted to have now raised over £116,000 through the 2009 Midnight Walk. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who has contributed to this. Our target for the walk is £120,000 so if you have yet to pay in your sponsor money, please do so as soon as possible. A big thank you to everyone who helped with the Midnight Walk event. Over 100 volunteers helped in the office and on the night; we simply could not have run the event without them, so thank you. A big thank you also to Geoffrey Matthews Estate Agents and Elms for sponsoring parts of the walk meaning more money comes directly to the Hospice; Harlow Police, Raynet and Red Cross for their support in keeping the route safe, Water Gardens for hosting the walk,  Ten17 for promoting the walk on the radio and their website and for keeping the crowds entertained, the Star newspaper for all their support, Esporta for doing manicures on the night, Nando’s for the donation of prizes and discounted food to all the walkers, Harlow Sports Centre for providing the warm up, Glaxo Smith Kline for donating the cartons of Ribena and absolutely everyone else who has promoted the event and helped us make it such a successful night.
